Hello everyone, let's continue to talk about leadership and leading well. One of the things that's so important for a leader is to be strong at all times. We observe this in the life of Jesus, though He was a Son of God, things were not easy for Him. We'll read from Philippians chapter 2, verse 8 ‘and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.’ We observe His earthly life as a man and His obedience to His family. We observe that He maintained that strong resolve which came from God and His relationship with the Father. He was aware of the purpose and He continued to move towards fulfilling that purpose but there were many points in the journey of Jesus where He must have struggled because things didn't work out or there were people opposing what Jesus was preaching, there was persecution, there were things that were being spoken about Him and while He was preaching, there were those who were hurling insults, who were saying that He is teaching blasphemous things, so many things were happening against the Lord Jesus. In our journey of leading others, when there are challenges, unless a leader maintains personal strength, it's very difficult to make it to the finish line. We see in the life of Jesus that He did make it to the finish line and the scripture that we read earlier says that He became obedient to the point of death. So, even towards the end of His ministry on earth, we know that the toughest challenge was ahead of Him, to go onto the cross and He did it. But how was Jesus so strong? He maintained a strong connect with the Father and that is one of the secrets from where we receive our strength. For us to maintain that strong spiritual connect with God is really the source and when we do that, we will find strength for all the challenges that may come our way. There are a couple of other things that would help us to be strong in our character which involves things like integrity, which involves things like having the right heart in our service to the people and also for us to be strong personally, we need to maintain strong mental health and that simply says that someone is so established in their identity and the purpose that God has for them, that even when opposing things happen they don't become a deterrent for one to lead people. So, maintaining personal strength is so very helpful for leaders because they will be able to wade through the rough waters and make it to the finish line. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the life of Jesus and the example that He set for us, that He was strong at all points and that He received the strength from you. Lord, we pray that today, all of us in whatever capacity you've called us to lead, will draw our strength from you and that we will be strong and not give up and continue to lead well so that the vision that you've put on our hearts can be accomplished, we thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
