Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to spend a few moments in God's word and in prayer. This week, we've been talking about the covenants and how God has established many covenants through His word. Today, we'll talk about the Davidic covenant. God's establishment of His covenant with David represents one of the theological high points in the Old Testament scriptures. This is a covenant where God promises a descendant of David to reign on the throne over the people of God. This again is an unconditional covenant made between God and David through which God promises David and Israel that the Messiah, Jesus Christ would come from the lineage of David and from the tribe of Judah and would establish a kingdom that would endure forever. The Davidic covenant is unconditional because God does not place any conditions of obedience upon its fulfillment. The surety of the promises made rest solely on God's faithfulness and does not depend on David or Israel's obedience. When God establishes the covenant with the nation of Israel, He establishes Himself as king Israel is to have no other king other than God, but in the law itself God makes a provision for the day in which there will be a human king. A king would not replace God but represent God to the people of Israel; that comes to fulfillment with King David. Of course, there was a first attempt when Israel asked for a king but they don't want God's king, they want a king like the nations because they wanted to be like the other nations. So, God gives them a king like the nations, Saul who turns out to be much more like a Gentile king than the king after God's own heart. God judges Saul and puts David on the throne and God makes a covenant with David. This is in many ways a continuation of the covenant of Abraham, it is a gracious covenant. God promises David that he will have a son to sit on his throne forever and that the son will be God's son, God's king, God's representative and that son will deliver God's people. Of course, as history goes on many of David's sons prove to be quite unfaithful. Generation after generation, the people find themselves looking and wondering is this the one, is this going to be the faithful son of David who will finally rescue God's people? It doesn't happen until Jesus Christ, the fullness of God's grace, in the fullness of time reveals His Son through the lineage of David. This explains why the great prayer of Psalm chapter 72 that speaks of Jesus's kingdom includes the echo of the Abrahamic covenant in verse 17, ‘may His name endure forever, His fame continue as long as the sun, many people be blessed in Him, all nations call Him blessed.’ It is amazing that God's covenant grace is for the entire world. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for once again ministering us to your word. Lord, we pray that you will speak to us. Even as we have read, you made a provision through your son Jesus Christ and now we are partakers, we can experience the blessings of the covenants that you have established for us. We thank you for your grace, we thank you for your goodness upon each of our lives, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
